Camps Camps basically allow cadets to see how life is lived on an RAF base, meals are eaten along side RAF personnel and you live for the week in RAF accommodation. Many activities take place, including exercises, night ex's, bowling tournaments and swimming! At a camp, you make lots of new friends and get a good insight into an RAF life and career. Camps are usually held at Summer and Easter, they cost £30 and include ALL travel, ALL meals and accommodation!
Exercises can be more involved and more exciting at a camp as we have access to full time RAF staff to train the cadets directly.
This is usually arranged though the Air Cadet Liaison Officer
at the Base (ACLO). In this case at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. Flying opportunities, Section visits and sporting opportunities make RAF Camps interesting and enjoyable for both the cadets and the staff! One of the advantages of being based at an RAF Base is you get close up to the action. Here we have a Tornado just taxiing by me just 20 feet away. Overall, camps are great to get away from home at a minimal cost, meet new friends and build your self confidence. Cadets can also attend an interview for abroad camps and IACE (International Cadet Exchange), at a subsidised cost of around £50 these camps are once in a lifetime opportunity. 111 Squadron has had cadets in; America, Canada, Germany, India, Singapore and Cyprus.
