AIR CADETS IN DERBY MATCH TRIUMPH
Air Cadets from 111 Sunderland Squadron ATC battled there way to the final of the annual football competition for a derby match to remember against Tynemouth Squadron.
The competition to find the champions of Durham and Northumberland wing saw cadets compete against 24 teams across two days. The final was then held at the Wing Review in front of hundreds of spectators.
After a tense match where emotions ran high the Sunderland side took the trophy with an impressive score, winning 4-1.
The team trained for weeks before the match and the effort was worth it in the end. Cadet Flight Sergeant Chris Marshall, 19 who captained the side said: “We really wanted to win this match considering the disastrous season Sunderland had. It was a matter of pride especially against a Newcastle squadron.”
