Easter Exercise

Every Easter, 111 Squadron hosts a massive exercise, now known to cadets as "The Easter Ex"!

Flying crews work in conjunction with away teams based at Warcop to complete missions and set tasks.

For instance if a flying crew fails to do a supply drop, the away team get limited rations for that day!

The ex promotes teamwork and the importance of your peers in real life situations!

During the ex, cadets are crewed into teams of 3, they are briefed to be a part of an air force and they also get ranks for the duration of the ex (Dictated by the cadet playing role of commanding officer).

Every year the plot is more challenging and interesting as the cadets take charge, running their own air force and looking after the "country's" best interests!

Missions include, Battleships, Submarines, Modern fighter aircraft and Bomber Aircraft.

Exercises are intense and challenging, but the cadets always stay alert, their peers on the ground may well be depending on them!

Meanwhile Ground crews are evading their enemy in the field awaiting news and commands from their aircrew allies.

During these continuous operations, if you have an opportunity to rest you grab it.

You just don't know the next time you'll get your head down!

Easter Exercises are intense and active, they also take a lot of planning and commitment from staff, but the cadets enjoy it so much, smaller exercises are held throughout the year!

One thing is for sure, these Aircrew Weekends are never boring, always intense and are a great experience, come and get involved!
