SUNDERLAND CADETS SUPPORT OUR SOLDIERS
Cadets from 111 (Sunderland) Squadron are doing their bit for our Soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan and other overseas operations.
30 Cadets from the squadron have been busy preparing shoeboxes to send to our serving men and women for Christmas, filling the boxes with luxuries such as toiletries, magazines and sweets.
The Squadron became involved after being approached by a representative from Support Our Soldiers and the cadets were keen to get involved, they prepared 43 boxes in total for the cause.
Joyce Walker, Sunderland Representative for the SOS appeal said: “I approached 111 Squadron as my two sons used to parade there before going on to other things. David is now on active service with the RAF and it inspired me to get involved with the appeal. I am absolutely delighted with the response from the cadets and their families”.
The SOS website continues to grow, offering support to the services all year round. This year’s Christmas appeal has seen over 10,000 parcels prepared for our soldiers abroad including 446 from the North-East with 269 being sent from Sunderland.
