CARA’S SINGAPORE SALUTE

 Sunderland Air Cadet Cara Riggall is jetting off to Singapore on the trip of a lifetime.

Corporal Riggall, 16 from 111 Sunderland Squadron ATC will be part of a delegation from the International Cadet Exchange Programme and is one of only two cadets in the North Region to be selected.

In total only 10 cadets and two members of staff from across the country will take part in the twelve day trip, leaving on the 2nd of December.

While in Singapore, Cara will meet dignitaries and cadets from the countries cadet forces. She will also experience a flight in a C130 Hercules aircraft and tour the sights of this distant country including a night time safari.

She said:- “I’m excited but very nervous. This is the furthest I’ve ever travelled and I can’t believe I was picked out of all the people who applied.”

Cara is currently studying Maths, Physics, Psychology and Art at  Sunderland's Bede Sixth Form College. Whilst being an Air Cadet Cara has represented Durham and Northumberland Wing and region at Swimming, completed a Caving Proficiency Course and has attended various camps at RAF Bases throughout the country.
