CADETS FLY HIGH AT AIRSHOW

Cadets and parents from
111 (Sunderland) Squadron rolled their sleeves up for another busy weekend at
the annual Sunderland Ai Show.
The show, which has taken place in Sunderland for the last 23 years, sees many
different types of aircraft and displays each year.
Visitors to the show were able to see 111 Squadron in action, raising both
awareness and funds for the unit.
Mrs Glendenning, Squadron Chairperson said: “It was another fantastic year at
the air show, we all hate the early morning starts and late finishes, but
everyone agrees it is worth it in the end.”
This years stall included the famous bottle tombola, as well as raffles, books
and games.
Corporal Stridirion said: “It was also a great opportunity to get leaflets out
about the Squadron so that more people can come down and share what we do.”
Mrs Glendenning added: “We raised over £1500 in two days to help the cadets get
much needed equipment and to keep the unit running, that’s definitely one of the
best totals we’ve raised at the show so far.”
“On behalf of the committee and the staff, I would like to say thank you to the
cadets that gave up their time to come and work so hard over the weekend.”
The air show is one of the biggest fundraisers that the unit takes part in each
year.
