AIR CADETS ON THE RUN
Air Cadets from 111 Sunderland Squadron ATC have taken their third wing sporting award of the year after winning the cross country events.
The squadron entered a team of 23 cadets in five different categories. Each cadet was expected to complete a three mile course to qualify.
Five cadets from 111 have been selected to represent Durham and Northumberland Wing in the Regional event. These cadets are Flight Sergeant Stephen Leonard, Sergeant Craig Hunt, Cadet Zoe Cooper, Cadet Jen Young and Cadet Glynn Alner.
The cadets trained for the cross country under the watchful eye of FS Leonard. FS Leonard who recently qualified as a sports leader and decided the squadron should take the title.
He said:- “As a squadron we’ve never won this event. We trained hard and pulled through as a team. I’m proud of everyone who took part and hope we can keep the title next year”.
As well as winning the cross country the cadets have also taken the trophies for the football and swimming events this year.
