AIR CADETS ARE IN SAFE HANDS

Twelve cadets from 111 (Sunderland) Squadron Air Training Corps have completed there ‘Young Lifesaver Plus’ award.

Under the watchful eye of Pilot Officer Maryanne Pattison the cadets learned what to do in a number of emergency situations on a 12 hour first aid course.

Plt Off Pattison, a newly commissioned officer used her years of experience with the St John Ambulance to get the cadets through the award. Maryanne has been involved with the Air Cadets for many years reaching the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer and then serving as a civilian instructor.

She said: “I’ve been hoping to do this for a long time, it’s great for the cadets to have these first aid skills and were hoping to get the rest of the squadron through the course as soon as possible.”

All of the cadets are now qualified to administer first aid wherever and whenever, should the need arise.
