AIR CADETS ON TARGET
Two air cadets from Sunderland have gained a top award for shooting in a recent competition.
Flight Sergeant Chris Nelson, 18 and Cadet Stephen Balbach, 16 of 111 Sunderland Squadron both gained the sought after Cadet 100 badge at the Inter Service Cadet Rifle Meeting (ISCRM) held at Bisley in Surrey.
The ISCRM involves hundreds of the best shooters from each cadet force competing against each other for three days. The cadets with the top 100 scores are then presented with the award.
A small number of cadets from each force were then selected to shoot in the corps final including FS Nelson who said: “I feel really proud to have got this far, It’s a real honor, I just hope I can manage it again next year!” The Air Training Corps went on to gain 1st place in the overall competition.
111 Squadron had 2 teams of cadets who qualified to shoot in the competition and is always looking for new talent.
