CADETS DIVE IN TO EARN THEIR WATER WINGS

Air Cadets from 111 (Sunderland) Squadron ATC swept the board at their local swimming gala.

The cadets aged between 13 and 20 swam against 27 other squadrons in a number of events including ‘butterfly’ and the ‘individual medley’.

After winning five gold, one silver and 14 bronze medals a number of the cadets will now go on to represent Durham and Northumberland Wing at the North Region swimming event.

The Squadron who also won the area football competition earlier this year hope to continue this successful streak. Cadet Warrant Officer Chris Nelson, 19, was team captain at the swimming gala, he said: “It’s great to win these events, we always go hoping for the best but you don’t expect it. Were all really proud of the efforts of all the cadets, it was a tough day.”
